blacktop dream

is a racing game about driving classic muscle cars. It has simcade physics mostly inspired by the Driver series, especially Driver 2 and Driver SF. Another reference in terms of car simulation is gta 4. By the way this is my first game project.

features

• Car physics is hard enough to convey the feeling of driving an old muscle car, but simple enough to be enjoyable to play on both a gamepad and a keyboard;
• various game activities;
• car upgrade is represented by a repair system to make it feel like restoring from the junk;
• aesthetics of old car action movies;
• locations include country roads and highways;
• destructible environment helps to win the race or shake the police off.

• challenges take less than minute to complete
• events take 1-3 min to complete

I've finally made  Demo version of the game. It includes all types of activies I have in game by now:

• 4 Challenges (sprint, drift, smash modes)
• 3 Events (2 police pursuits and 1 race with a rival)

• UI and UX are not completely ready
• the game will probably run at least at 30-45 FPS on GTX 1060 or even lower (haven't checked lower PC yet)
• shadows are not optimized well enough yet. They may cause bad performance. If so, turn it to low.                        

what's next

Now my plans are:

• improve car's appearence
• extend repair system
• add one more car
• probably add one more challenge mode
• make a different sounds of the car depending on its condition
• add more activities
